First launched back in 2009, GREENFLEET has helped shape the clean fleet strategy for Scotland over the last 14 years. Working, primarily, with Transport Scotland, GREENFLEET Scotland was designed to pull together fleet professionals from across the country to educate them on how to make the shift from old, dated ICE vehicles to newer, cleaner technology. Back then, it was all about low-carbon diesel and hybrid technology, before the EV revolution began.

After 5 very successful years, we then spent the next 5 helping kick-start the uptake of EVs, both in the fleet and business sector, as well as consumer, with our EVOLUTION Motor Shows. After a decade, our work was done… We had helped launch what is widely recognised as the one of the most successful EV strategies, in terms of stimulating uptake and infrastructure installation, anywhere in the world.

2018 saw us shift focus to Glasgow… The first Scottish city to have a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) introduced. Again, they wanted to engage with businesses operating in and around the city, as well as the consumers that did the same, and we staged 2 very successful GREENFLEET & EVOLUTION Glasgow events across 2018 and 2019.

The Pandemic put paid to year 3 in 2020, as it did with COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference, so the Glasgow event went ‘digital’ and was staged online. But, as the restrictions began to lift, November 2021 saw the GREENFLEET, EVOLUTION and COP26 events take place.

To coincide with the eyes of the world being on the city throughout, it seemed opportune to show the rest of the world what the UK are doing in terms of Electric Vehicles… And the EV Rally OF Scotland (EVROS) was born!

The idea? To put more than 20 electric cars and vans on the road and set them off on a 5 day, 1200 mile ‘moving showcase’ around Scotland, including the Highlands, where the public charging infrastructure is there, but is not widespread. The idea was to let the event ‘play out’ over social media (LinkedIn & Twitter). We achieved this by putting in ‘Official Checkpoints’ that all participants had to call in at… And ‘Check In’. At the Checkpoints, we asked all drivers to take a picture of their vehicle, at the Checkpoint, and post it on social media using very strict @Handles and #Hashtags. The result was HUGE engagement and coverage online, plus additional radio and TV news coverage.

The result? We rebranded for 2022 as the Great British EV Rally, running from John O’Groats to Land’s End, again over 5 days. And the event DOUBLED in size with more than 45 vehicles taking part. We had over 2 million engagements on social media, were featured on BBC radio 4 times and got 8 minutes on BBC evening news!

To sum up… The LIVE, moving showcase of EVs, charging infrastructure, clean energy projects and more was a success. So much so, we are once again doing EVROS in 2023.

16 & 17 AUGUST

Building on the successful EV Rally of Scotland (EVROS) during COP26 in ‘21, and then the Tri-Hub EV Challenge in ‘22, EVROS is back! 2 days, more than 500 miles, showcasing EV technology and the charging network in Scotland.

We want to continue ‘bury the myth’ that EVs don’t have the range or capabilities to become the integral part of a Scottish fleet’s DNA!

Scotland needs to continue to show why it is leading the UK in embracing the very latest in innovative practices. ‘E-Mobility’ and the ‘decarbonisation of transport’ is seen as a key element to helping shift towards net zero and a cleaner future, and when it comes to EVs and infrastructure, the fleet sector has a huge role to play.

EVROS in 2021 and the 2022 Great British EV Rally not only showed what is possible in the future… It showed UK fleets that e-Mobility is here NOW!

The event will comprise 10 x Teams, representing Scottish business. Each Team can enter an EV of their choice (car or van), along with a driver and co-driver. They will embark on a 500+ all-electric mile moving showcase, with 2 or 3 Checkpoints a day. Each Checkpoint is photographed and posted on social media using specific hastags and handles, creating the organic growth and coverage to capture the attention.
