Colin Matthews has been involved in alternative fuels and technologies for over 25 years. He began pre-millennium with Mobil CNG; early pioneers of the use of natural gas in vehicles. He went on to run the transport grant programs with the energy saving trust through to their cessation in 2007.

He was then encouraged by the industry to set up his own consultancy, JouleVert, and has been advising the fuel industry, technology providers, and government ever since. He was part of the team that designed the RTFO and has been a member of the low carbon vehicle partnership/Zemo since its inception. He is currently the chair of the fuels working group and he is also an active member of the Renewable Transport Fuel Association.
