Glasgow City Council
Glasgow City Council is Scotland’s largest local authority, serving more than 635,000 citizens and businesses and visitors to the city. In addition to delivering services the council also develops policies and undertakes projects that help to achieve its vision of being a world class city with a thriving, inclusive, economy where everyone can flourish and benefit from the city’s success.
Having declared a climate and ecological emergency in May 2019 the council adopted its ambitious Glasgow Climate Plan in 2021 that sets out its response to the global crisis and ambitions around achieving net zero carbon by 2030.
The council is also working towards employing a zero emission fleet by 2029. It is intended that only electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, across all sizes and classifications, will be used to deliver crucial city services by this date.
