Delivered in association with Transport Scotland and Glasgow City Council, the Tri-Hub EV Challenge gives Scottish businesses the chance to test their EV credentials, and at the same time, experience EV capability and the innovative ChargePlace Scotland charging infrastructure.
Taking place on 25 August, in vehicles kindly provided by Arnold Clark Vehicle Management, the Challenge will leave the Arnold Clark Innovation Centre and embark on a 225 electric mile Challenge, taking in 3 x charging hubs and other Checkpoints along the way. The hubs, managed by East Ayrshire, East Lothian and Falkirk Councils are joined by Glasgow Fort as Official Checkpoints, before the vehicles return to Glasgow and are inspected for energy consumption (miles per kilowatt hour) and a winner is established.

At the beginning of the Challenge, the EVs will have their computers ‘zeroed’ on the energy consumption function.
Drivers and Co-Drivers will then need to navigate the 220+ miles in the most efficient way possible, meaning route planning will be key.
‘Driving style’ will also play a key role in getting the best from the battery, so a light foot, good anticipation and making use of the innovative technology on the car, like regenerative braking, will be crucial.
Upon returning to the Arnold Clark Innovation Centre their ‘Product Genius’ will take readings from the vehicles’ computer and from that, we will have a winning team! Who’s YOUR money on?
